GOD’s REALITY TV…

What happened today at our Church can’t be scripted, manufactured or put together better than any reality TV show out there…. Check out GOD’S REALITY TV!

The Sermon was entitled, ” I’m Determined to Make a Difference”.  The text was from Matthew 25: 31-40 and Matthew 6: 33.

In the sermon, Pastor defined being Christians as being ‘Christ-like’, to live as Christians not in word… but in deed.  God want us to be the “Church’ to empower others on behalf of Jesus Christ.  Pastor used the movie, ‘The Great Debaters’ as a parable on God not making us less than anybody else, but to excel .  The question was raised, “How do you save generation ‘X’? One child at a time.

Pastor then used some graduates from , Project Hope, an outreach ministry where the Church takes boys and girls that are considered at risk, alot of them where the school system has given up on them and proceed to nurture them and train them and bring them back to a relationship with GOD and Society.  There were several powerful testiomonies.  One had lost his Dad, his Mother, was living in foster care, in between homeless and just coming to the program to get a sandwich to eat.  That same young man is now in college and mentoring other youth!  On and on the testimonies came… more and more the congregation was realizing powerful God can be in any situation.   One statement that stood out from one of the young boys, “ If you don’t have any hills to climb in your life, you wouldn’t have anything to get over.”

Some powerful points made:

  1. Judgement Day will only be a Declaration on where you are going, you are taking the test that determines it… daily.
  2. In life you can start at the bottom… you don’t have to end there.
  3. If you really want to live your life to the fullest, learn to focus not on yourself, but focus on helping others!
  4. The Cross… costs… to help others, sometimes it will require you to give what you don’t have.  It’s a choice you make to do or not to do… Daily – Love God, Love People!

The Invitation came… the floodgates opened!

Most of the people that joined today were so called Generation X.  Six of the youth a lot of them in the 19-25 yr range were candidates for Baptism!  If that wasn’t enough, one of them had been shot ’5′ times recently, still walking very slowly and testifying that ‘He finally knew that he wasn’t supposed to be here and it was only through someone’s prayer that he was standing there!  Church went crazy… Praising the Lord!

I lost count on how many joined and we were almost finished taking everyone in when it happened….

One of the sisters of the Church came down the aisle with a young man and they interrupted the Pastor.  After talking to this young man, Pastor said the following…

This young man was home on his computer, came across our Church online… live.  As he started to watch and see and hear the testimonies of all of the young people, he saw more and more of himself.  When he couldn’t take anymore he called his girlfriend, told her to come get him right away.  Now we live in a fairly large city and he lived downtown.  They literally ran lights trying to get to the Church before it ended.   And He Joined the Church!!   Again, the Church lost it!

Talk about your reality TV, the power of the internet, reaching the so called ‘lost’ generation, a truely powerful display of God in action!!!

Every Baby Boomer in the Place, agreed, never in our 40-50 years of living have we seen this happen and yet… it is truly remarkable what we could really do to advance God’s kingdom with the technology we have today.

So as we left the Church, ate out with our families and I returned home to meditate, I took some shots  of heaven as I meditated in the back yard, God’s breeze gently letting me know…. He is Real.

Plant the Seed…. Watch it Harvest…. Be Blessed!
